Virginia Tidal Marsh InventoryBeginning in the 1970s, the VIMS Wetlands Advisory Program started mapping all tidal wetlands in support of the Virginia Wetlands Act which was passed in 1972. USGS 7.5 minute topographic maps, and aerial photography provided geographic boundaries for the wetlands.
