This dataset includes the number of visits for heat-related illness (HRI) at emergency departments and urgent cares in Virginia by visit date (includes visits from May-September only) and by patient geography. Data set includes HRI visits between May through September only for years 2015 through the current year (year-to-date). Days with zero HRI visits will not be present in the dataset. VDH health regions are assigned using the patient's residential zip code for Virginia residents. Patients with non-Virginia or unknown zip codes are grouped as 'Out of State.' When data set is downloaded, the dates will be sorted in ascending order, meaning that the earliest date will be at the top.
