This dataset uses U.S. Census table B17020 - Poverty Status by Age
The data shows the number of people per locality, the overall number of people living below the poverty level per locality, and then the number of people under age 18 living below the poverty level per locality. This last data element is broken down into three segments - aged <6 years, 6-11 years, and 12-17 years, which when added together equal the total number of children under age 18 living below the poverty level per locality.

Virginia also issued benefits to all SNAP children under six. This is what is defined as "child care" P-EBT by USDA. It does not however reflect all of the children in child care but only the children that are under six and receiving SNAP benefits. The children were matched by their address and the corresponding school division's FIPS code

Students who qualify for free and reduced-price school meals in school year 2020-2021, will be eligible for Summer P-EBT. Benefits will be issued in a one-time payment of August 25, 2021. Benefits will be loaded on an existing EBT card. Students will receive benefits of $375 per student to cover the summer period. Children under the age of six are also eligible for the Summer P-EBT benefit. In order to receive the benefit, these children must be enrolled in the SNAP program during the summer months. The benefit will be the same amount of $375 per child and issued on August 25, 2021.
