Virginia Department of Emergency Management

The Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) works with local government, state and federal agencies and voluntary organizations to provide resources and expertise through the four phases of emergency management. One aspect of emergency management is maintaining situational awareness. VDEM maintains a website that houses a collection of GIS maps used to enhance and communicate situational awareness regarding weather and natural hazards with potential to impact the Commonwealth of Virginia. Additionally, users can use resources discovered through this website to construct maps and analyze geospatial data that are unique to that user's particular need.
